I remember when I was present at the birth of my second daughter, full of life, healthy, very large and with lungs strong enough to express her sense of belonging and independence from the amniotic fluid through her mouth. Something I have always considered, and although it seems to be simple to conclude, is the fact that we were all born naked; yes, the nurse cleaned the baby, and then she was bathed and covered with a beautiful little dress.
We bring nothing at the time of our first communication or cry on earth. Why then are there attachments and fixations to what is secure, which in the future will be uncertain and perishable?
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2,19-21 NKJV
1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted;
19 For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. 20 All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust. 21 Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?
Ecclesiastes 9:4-6 NKJV
4 But for him who is joined to all the living there is hope, for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun.
