This is how the prefect of Judea, Pontius Pilate, asked Jesus when he was being accused by the crowd and their leaders. The Greek word translated as truth means undisguised, understood as sincerity; the Son of God was about to die for speaking the truth, for not hiding behind a mask of appearances and lies.

Such a question denotes ignorance of the spiritual and true; had he understood that Truth was before his eyes, surely this governor would have been free in mind and heart;
