Social Sins

"On many occasions we stopped him with items from the store and he was even imprisoned, but time and time again, he would come back and steal from us as if nothing had happened"; commented a supervisor of a chain store in Medellín, referring to an escape artist: a person who has the bad habit of stealing what belongs to others, at the slightest carelessness of the owner in order to escape quickly.

This delicate situation is comparable to the saying: "if the enemy is stronger, join him". The social system we have today, allows what is forbidden and condemns what is right; then we can find certain vices and behaviors harmful to health, contrary to the will of God that were "sanctified". They are permissive with smoking, alcohol, infidelity, gluttony, vanity and consumerism, among others.

If man "legalizes", even if it is the same governments, what God never allowed, and because such decisions are supported by the majority, do we have to approve them? Or worse, practice them?

Isaiah 5:20-25 NKJV

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
And prudent in their own sight!

22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine,
Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,
23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe,
And take away justice from the righteous man!

24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble,
And the flame consumes the chaff,
So their root will be as rottenness,
And their blossom will ascend like dust;
Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,
And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Therefore the anger of the Lord is aroused against His people;
He has stretched out His hand against them
And stricken them,
And the hills trembled.
Their carcasses were as refuse in the midst of the streets.

For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still.

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
