Only the Good?

In just one day and in a matter of minutes, a perfect, upright, God-fearing man, who feared God and was far from evil, had his livestock stolen, his servants killed, his ten children killed in an accident, was injured with a malignant scabies, and his wife opposed his unconditional faith. Such an experience is very traumatic, mentally and emotionally, and incomprehensible to anyone. What then should be the response in such a circumstance?

This man, known as Job, acted as follows: "He arose, and rent his robe, and shaved his head, and fell on the ground, and worshipped, and said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither again. The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."

Some consider that because God is love, He will not allow us to be tested and persecuted by the dark forces of evil; He, glorifies Himself in all that happens, and if He allows it, it is because it will be for our spiritual and emotional growth.

Job 2:9-10 NKJV

9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!”
10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV

13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Psalm 55:22 NKJV

22 Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
