His 1950 performance immortalized him in Hollywood; he still lives in his impressive songs; he will continue among us as long as his incomparable books are sold; and other expressions more, with which they pretend to give "corporal eternity" to men limited by time. What will be what in reality, after life, offers happy eternity? His good works? The passionate dedication for life? The intellectual or material achievements? Dedication, responsibility for work and family? Or perhaps, respect, obedience and devotion to God?
For many, death is unacceptable and incomprehensible; having to leave everything in which a great sacrifice and a lot of time was invested, suddenly abandoning projects and jobs. Frustration and helplessness, witnessing the destructive power of death, take over.
To feel good about yourself and others, even if they take you away from the earth, you need only one work: to believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
Ecclesiastes 1:9-11,14,18 NKJV
9 That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which it may be said,
“See, this is new”?
It has already been in ancient times before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things,
Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.
14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind.
18 For in much wisdom is much grief,
And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
John 11:25-27 NKJV
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
John 6:28-29 NKJV
28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
