It is said that Diogenes, the philosopher, used to go out naked carrying a lamp in his hands; if someone, out of curiosity, asked him what he was doing, he immediately answered: "I am looking for the man"; to what or to whom was this thinker referring? I am quite sure that if he had been a contemporary of the teacher of Galilee, Jesus, he would have had no need to expose himself to ridicule and scorn in this way, for in the company of the Messiah, he would find peace and provide for all the needs of the heart.
Today, many are not far from being like the one who walked without finding a meaning to his existence: they expose themselves to the mockery even of their own friends by manifesting their hidden weaknesses when they are manipulated by liquor; they hasten their steps to the encounter of disappointment and pain, by looking at what is alien; they walk in the absurd weariness of light, crying out to be enveloped and confused in darkness; they exchange the freedom of the soul, for the chains of illusory pleasure; they abandon the sincerity, security and calm of a family, for double-minded, turbulent and destructive "friends" of heart, ...
Diogenes was better than these.
Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
John 8:12 NKJV
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
John 16:33 NKJV
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
