Many people are fond of eating well and appreciate good food; sushi, caviar, the best roasts or delicacies in fruits without number, they spend large amounts of money for an excellent and exotic dish. Around a table filled with a great variety of food, business is done, the horror of evil is plotted, lies are told, the "self-sufficiency" of material power is pretended; and even in "spiritual" matters (agape), those who have little or nothing are humiliated with unbridled abundance.

For a rich red stew, the most desirable birthright that ever existed on earth was sold, and by means of apparent meals, great personages of history were put to death. But also, God's will was honored by sharing from a very meager cupboard.

Proverbs 17:1 NKJV

1 Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife.

Luke 16:19-21 NKJV

19 There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

1 Kings 17:13-14 NKJV

13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”
